    1. In the nineteenth century, most people immigrated to the US because of the fertile land, jobs and because of the economy since the land and jobs were thriving. Options and opportunities were limited in Europe and that is why most people have immigrated. With the economy rise, chances for a better life rose too and people were having more possibilities.  

    2.  Ships were the cheapest source for transporting the goods and in the nineteenth century they were moving through the waterways, for example, the two-and-a-half-mile canal and through the Erie Canal, Hudson River, the Great Lakes, and Mississipi River Valley. Back then, $15 million($200 million nowadays) worth of goods was transported every year and the price of the transport was low because the canal was opened in 1825 since it was under the construction for seven years.
