The invasion of Poland by German Nazi forces on September 3th in 1939 oficially initiated the World War II. Adolf Hitler, the German leader,  hoped that major europian and american powers would remain tolerant to this action, as it happened during Austria and Czechoslovakia invasions. However, the British ultimatum demanding Germany withdraw expired the same day, so British government proceeded to declare war; France also declared war to Germany the same day. In despite of that, nor France or Britain took important military actions in the next days. In June 1941 Hitler broke non agression pact with the Soviet Union, but until 1945, the URSS didn’t complete the liberation of Poland, coinciding with the final days of WWII.
