    8. y - 8 = - \frac{1}{2} ( x + 16)

    The equation of a line in ' point-slope form ' is

    y - b = m( x - a)→ ( where m is slope and ( a ,b) a point on the line )

    slope = (-2 - 8 )/(4 + 16) = (-10)/20 = - \frac{1}{2}

    using m = - \frac{1}{2} and (a , b) = (-16 , 8)

    y - 8 = - \frac{1}{2} ( x + 16)

    9. y- intercept = ( 0 , - 3) and x- intercept = ( 4 , 0)

    to find intercepts

    let y = 0 and solve for x

    let x = 0 and solve for y

    x = 0 → 4y + 12 = 0 ⇒ 4y = - 12 ⇒ y = - 3 ⇒ ( 0 , - 3 )

    y = 0 → 3x = 12 ⇒ x = 4 ⇒ ( 4 , 0 )
