    Average Velocity = total distance / total time

    v = \frac{d}{t}

    now it is given that

    d = 12.2 miles

    t = 3.4 hours

    now we will use the above equation

    v = \frac{12.2}{3.4}

    v = 3.6 mi/h

    So average speed is 3.6 mph

    now given that

    total displacement = 8 miles

    total time taken = 0.25 hours

    now by above formula

     v = \frac{8}{0.25}

    v = 32 mi/h

    So average velocity is 32 mph
