    Hi,

    Pretty simple: if a result of a multiplication is equal to 0, then each factor is equal to 0.

    y = f(x) = (x -- 5)(x + 2)² = 0, so:

    x₁ -- 5 = 0 ⇒ x₁ = 5.

    (x + 2)² = 0 ⇒ x₂ = x₃ = --2, for --2 we have state of multiplicity = 2.
