SOLVE: 13 - 3x = 4 (x - 2)

    distribute 4 through the parenthesis

    13 - 3x = 4x - 8

    move variables to the left side and change its sighn

    13 - 3x - 4x = - 8
     
    move constant to the right side and change its sign

    -3x - 4x = - 8 - 13

    collect like terms 

    -7x = - 8 - 13

    -3x - 4x = - 8 - 13

    calculate the sum or difference 

    -7x = - 21

    divide both sides of the equation by - 7

    x = 3
