I was exploring an ancient castle in the middle of the gloomy forest. Suddenly, the bright light of my flashlight quit working, and I was left in the dark. I panicked, wondering where my spares were. As I fumbled my pockets, I was shocked to find that my spare batteries were not there. Left in the dark, I groped through the ancient rooms. Bat wings were fluttering, and my footsteps echo the floor. With a turn of the corner, I saw a bright light. However, it slowly faded away as the sun went down. It seemed to me that the dying light, my last hope, left me dying inside too. I sat down, wondering, thinking of the terror around me.

Night arose, the moon was not visible, the owls were hooting all around me. I heard the ancient ghosts travel around me. Freaked out, I sped into a room and barred the rusted lock. Within, there was an eerie silence. All I could do was wait for the break of dawn.

The hours passed slowly. I thought of my home, my family. Just when I was about to give up, dawn showed it's face, as the light slowly cracked open through the landscape, a light in the darkness, like the savior who came to save. I looked in awe of the beautiful landscape around me, what used to be a gloomy forest, was an scenery to remember. As I trekked down the castle path on my way home, I thought to myself: "One must last through the hardships, for in the end of the path, is a lasting memory, never to be forgotten, a memory of both the pain and suffering to go through, but also, the lasting prize." As stated in the old days:

"Perserverance is not a long race; It is many short races one after the other"      ~ Walter Elliot

The event that took place the previous day, is an experience worth remembering, is one preparing me for the next hardship, is a memory that will either haunt me through the ages, or be a blessing that will help me throughout my life
